Whether you're a casual rider or an advanced rider skating in the park or on rails, the base of your board will inevitably suffer some form of damage.
While larger scratches or deeper damage should be repaired by a professional shop, smaller scratches can be repaired at home with the right materials and techniques. Repairing your snowboard's base will ensure a smoother, faster ride and less snags. A scratch-free base also helps prevent water from weakening the board's internal structure.
The basic items you will need to repair your snowboard base are:
P-Tex candle, lighter, metal edge scraper, citrus-based cleaner, towel or cloth

Tuning your snowboard edges is crucial to keeping your board from snagging at high speeds and making it more responsive at the start of a turn, and it also helps you customize the ride and feel of your board underfoot.
Each edge has two faces (a base edge and a side edge).
Generally, beveling the base edge makes it easier to turn because it widens the bottom of the board, increasing the base area in contact with the snow and reducing side edge contact.
Beveled side edges give the board more grip and help it dig into the snow when turning and stopping, giving the rider more control.
The basic equipment you will need to tune your snowboard edges is as follows:

Especially for those who want to avoid catching their edges when railing or turning, it is recommended to detune (blunt) the edges of the board at the tip of the nose and tail and between the contact points, which will reduce the chance of catching the edge.
Detuning affects the feel and performance of your board and is especially important for advanced freestylers to make your board more predictable and forgiving in a variety of snow conditions. With the right tools and techniques, detuning can be done at home.
The basic tools you will need to detune your snowboard edge are:
・Diamond or ceramic file ・Gummy stone ・Metal file

Properly cleaning the base of your board is an important first step when starting any snowboard tuning procedure. A clean base helps the wax adhere better, which is especially essential when repairing scratches or gouges with P-Tex.
Cleaning the base of your snowboard using a citrus-based cleaner is relatively easy and is a recommended technique for those starting to learn the basics of tuning. Hot scraping is an advanced cleaning method that requires more effort and experience, but it is effective in removing contaminants from the base and deeply cleaning the pores of the base.
Here are the basic supplies you will need to clean the base of your snowboard:
