Types of skateboard parts

Types of skateboard parts

deck
Made from multiple layers of laminated timber, the deck is the platform you stand on and your canvas for the city.

track
Skateboard trucks are the unsung heroes of your setup: they allow the board to turn and provide the platform for the wheels to pivot and grind.

Wheels
Believe it or not, these round polyurethane objects allow the board to roll, and they come in a variety of sizes, hardness, and shapes to suit different riding types.

bearing
They fit on either side of the wheel and allow it to spin freely. Without bearings, your wheel is useless. If you don't choose the right ones for your setup, you'll struggle to maintain speed.

Grip tape
A sandpaper-like material applied to the top deck of a skateboard to provide grip and prevent slipping, grip tape provides the friction needed to keep your feet on the board, allowing you to perform tricks with precision and confidence.

Hardware
Nuts and bolts may not seem like the coolest part of your setup, but they are essential—neglecting the hardware will only get you riding until the wheels fall off.
