The shoe was developed at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, incorporating input from advisory staff member Takasaki Nakamura, through an analysis of skateboarders' movements, and is characterized by its high functionality, allowing skaters to perform at their best. Because precise movement of the front of the foot is required while riding, a continuous groove runs from the bottom to the side of the outsole on the outside of the front of the shoe, enhancing flexibility to follow the movement of the foot.
The upper features asymmetrical eyelets on the inside and outside, providing a wider surface area on the outside of the instep, which frequently comes into contact with the board. While maintaining a secure fit around the instep, this improves the feel of the board, allowing for more delicate riding. Durability has also been considered, with the eyelets shaped and the tongue folded over to prevent laces from breaking.
The sole is designed with a shock-absorbing material called "GEL" placed from the center of the heel to the inside, which reduces the load when landing and makes it easier to maintain balance on the board. The front of the upper is made of polyurethane resin, which is used in our tennis shoes, and is characterized by its increased abrasion resistance.
