The term "SLAPPY" isn't just limited to curb skating. Introducing the new SLAPPY TRUCKS.
The brainchild of skate industry icon Mike Sinclair, Slappy Trucks was developed during the COVID pandemic to address issues with other major brands' trucks. Slappy Trucks are the result of over three years of research and development, including increased grind clearance around the kingpin and changes to the way the trucks turn. These trucks have received rave reviews from the community and are selling out as soon as they arrive.
So what about reviews of these trucks?
Chris describes the Slappy trucks as a metaphorical mix between an Independent and an Ace truck, featuring a lightweight hanger and smooth grind. They're stable for manual maneuvers and high speeds, and are suitable for a variety of skate styles.
However, we did have some issues with the trucks and bushings. This happened to both sets of Slappys we test rode, with the top washer peeling off the top of the bushing, but it didn't affect skating. This issue could be coincidental, but it's something to be aware of.
They also noted the bushings' sensitivity to temperature changes, with even a 10-degree difference making the track feel very tight or loose.
As for durability, Slappy Trucks hangers take longer to develop grooves than other truck companies, demonstrating their ability to withstand the wear and tear of skating. Chris used 60mm wheels and only needed to add 1/8 inch risers to his board, making them a good option for skateboarders looking to avoid larger wheels and wheel bite.
Overall, Slappy Trucks offers a unique and innovative option for skateboarders looking for new skateboard truck options. While they may not be for everyone, they are definitely worth considering for those who are serious about skating.
